I abstained from joining in on the list, but I am happy to report I would have handled it just fine and within the context of the the negotiated contract.

Regarding getting hit with the cluestick...it wasn't a negotiation, it was in traffic court. I was involved in a multi-car accident and got a ticket. I appeared in court, and at some point, in response to a question from the judge, started to explain what happened. He stopped me and asked me, "Do you want to tell me this?"

I recognized the cluestick when I saw it. I could only hurt myself by telling him something that he would then _have_ to take notice of, and which might get me into further trouble. So I shut up. And he dismissed the charge.
