Completely Smitten

As many of you already know, I write romance under the name Kristine Grayson.  What I write used to be called paranormal romance, but that’s no longer accurate, since paranormal implies vampires and ghoulies and things, and I write books about Greek gods and fairy tale creatures come to life, mixing them with comic book heroes and Las Vegas detectives.  (Yes, my mind is a mishmash.)

The first reissue of a Grayson book has appeared from WMG.  The cover is 100% better than the original cover, as you can see from the image below.  Those of you who don’t normally read romance but who read fantasy novels will like this series–if you like humor, that is. 🙂

You can download the Kindle version, the Barnes & Noble version, or a version on Smashwords right now.  It’ll take a week or so to hit the other e-book stores.

A trade paper edition will appear later in the spring.  Don’t worry. I’ll let you know when that appears as well, because I want to share the full wrap-around cover, which has a basset hound on the spine.

Next, you’ll find the book’s description, followed by a link to an excerpt.  The link is on Smashwords because I’m too lazy at the moment to post an excerpt here.  Eventually, I’ll probably do that or on the Kristine Grayson website.

THE SIDEKICK’S JOURNEY

Darius has been a sidekick forever. Always the best friend, never the hero. Known throughout the ages by a variety of names from Merlin to Sancho Panza, Puck to Andvari, Darius has kept his real identity secret.

Three thousand years ago, he disrespected true love. So, as punishment, the Fates took away his good looks and forced him to unite 100 soul mates before he got his looks back. He just united his 98th and 99th couple. He has one left when he meets Ariel Summers.

Ariel Summers, a world-famous triathelete, is hiking the Idaho Wilderness to come to terms with a career-ending injury. She falls off a cliff, but somehow manages to stop on a ledge halfway down. But she needs help, and a handsome man provides it—using magic. She meets Darius in his true form, which he can revert to once a year—and falls in love with him.

Or does she? Because Darius’s lifelong enemy, Cupid, lurks in the woods, and he’s shot an arrow at Ariel. Did it hit? And does it matter? Because Darius knows Ariel is part of the final couple he must unite. He can’t bear to unite her with anyone else. But Darius doesn’t deserve true love. So he must break Cupid’s spell, find Ariel’s soul mate, and unite them. Even though he doesn’t want to.

I love this story. I first read it eight or nine years ago, and when I think of your romance novels, this is always the first one that comes to mind. (I still laugh when I think about that line about the Marriage Mart, and I always think about it when I’m reading a regency romance in which a marriage-minded mama is prominently involved.)

Now I can get it for my Kindle! Yay!

Looking forward to your new romances coming out later this year.

Thanks, Sharon. I’m so glad you like it. And the new cover suits it, I think. Wait until you see the cover for Simply Irresistible. (Personally, Smitten is one of my own favorites. I make myself giggle when I think of my hero–the garden gnome. )
