John, I've found that sometimes you have to search by a couple of different methods on Amazon to find a book. If that's where you're looking for it. By title, by editor, by one of the authors. Chances are, though, the major publisher that the book came out of here in the US hasn't got the rights for the U.K. Good luck finding it. And I'm so glad you liked the list.

Thanks for the list, Kris. I am a fan of Jim Butcher's Dresden series and love the short stories I have read so far. They help to fill a hole while waiting for the next novel. My only disappointment is that Hex Appeal does not appear to be available as an ebook, at least not here in the UK.

I am on a paper book embargo these days ... not because I am anti-hard-copy but because I have run out of shelf space and my wife has decreed a one-book-in-one-book-out policy :).

So I am left in the frustrating situation of wanting to give a publisher some money and not being able to. I refuse to use pirate sites so I guess I'll just have to wait and hope that a digital version appears eventually.

PS - If I am just being incredibly dense and someone reading this comment knows where I can legally get hold of a digital copy of the book, please let me know.

A book that reminds you of Grimm? Cool! I'm going to have to check that one out. *g* I love the TV show (the new season starts on Monday, btw). In fact, there are quite a few things here I'm going to have to grab. Also, very glad to hear Dan's story is available now. I don't think I'm going to forget that one for a long, long time.

Thanks, Eric. I will look for Morgue Drawer Four. (Love the title.) I really enjoyed Carter's book, and it makes me want to pick up the others--and find my copy of Emperor of Ocean Park, which I never read.

Great post. I particularly enjoyed your comments about Carter's book. I'm normally not a fan of alternative history but you have convinced me it's worth a read. As far as black success stories, you are so correct. There are several really good books related to that topic including Black Titan by Carol Jenkins and Our Kind of People by Lawrence Graham.

I, too, like Bloodlist. Another book normally outside my normal genre reading is Morgue Drawer Four which is fun.
