Mae, chief linguist on the Ivoire, heads a diplomatic mission to Ukhanda. Her handling of relations with the Quurzod lead to a battle that causes the Ivoire’s anacapa drive to malfunction, stranding the ship in foldspace. Mae can’t remember what she did wrong on the mission: all she knows is that she’s one of the few survivors. If she doesn’t recall it, she won’t be able to prevent another disaster when the Ivoire escapes foldspace. If the Ivoire escapes foldspace. Because what no one talks about—and everyone fears—is that the Ivoire is becalmed…forever.

Yes! News! (And more exclamation points than I probably needed, but still.) For some reason, all of my deadlines piled up in 2017. I spent the first four months in a weird, but efficient frenzy. The only thing that went by the wayside was keeping you all informed of new publications. This, of course, means that the news has piled up as well, and I’m […]
I started writing The Falls to explain sector bases to myself. I figured I had a novella at best, but the story got longer and longer and longer. More characters showed up, and it wasn’t until I was nearly done that I realized why I had to tell this story in this way. Diving fans, you need to read The Falls before you read The […]
I warned you: September is a busy month for news. It just keeps on rolling in. In fact, this morning, I received even more news in my email, stuff I had forgotten. Yeah, it’s a fun month. Here’s something really fun. The Women in Science Fiction project that I’ve been working on for the last year plus has finally hit print. Yep, you can now […]
The new Diving project turned into a novel. It surprised me, because the novel does not feature Boss. The book takes place at a sector base. I started the entire book as a novella, which I do very often to explain something to myself. But the novella kept going and going and going, and now I have a surprise novel. The Falls will appear in […]
I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to give you folks an excerpt of Skirmishes, the fourth Diving novel. I know my overseas fans have felt frustrated that they were unable to buy the first three novels, so let me begin with that news. You can buy the first three novels worldwide now. I can’t link to them, since I’m in the States, but I can […]
Today’s the official publication day of Skirmishes, the fourth Diving universe book. You can now get the book on all platforms. You can find it in your favorite bookstore or order it in trade paper from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other online stores. You can also get the ebook in all e-retailers from Amazon to Kobo to Barnes & Noble to Smashwords to Omnilit and more! […]
Lots of news from the Diving Universe. First, let me share the cover for the fourth Diving novel, Skirmishes. I love this cover. The art is by Philcold, design by Allyson Longueira of WMG Publishing. And here’s the cover copy: The answers Captain Jonathan “Coop” Cooper and the crew of the Ivoire seek lie in the Boneyards. But they must wait for Boss and her team to dive […]
Once per month, I’ll publish an excerpt of one of my novels, and I hope you’ll be intrigued enough to buy the rest of the book. I began this practice in February of 2011. Unlike the free fiction I put up every Monday, the novel excerpts will remain on the site. If you want to read the opening to the previous twelve novels, click here. This month, […]
My latest Diving novel officially hit all the stands today. Boneyards has received excellent reviews so far. Library Journal said: Rusch’s latest addition to her “Diving” series (Diving into the Wreck; City of Ruins) features a strong, capable female heroine and a vividly imagined far-future universe. VERDICT Blending fast-paced action with an exploration of the nature of friendship and the ethics of scientific discoveries, this tale should […]
