Two Award Winners and Something Fun

Dean Wesley Smith and I have decided to slowly get our fiction inventory into e-books.  I’ll be announcing new titles every week or so.  You’ll be able to find the stories on Kindle, Smashwords, and Scribd, as well as in most formats most places. You can read a sample if you click on the links. Note: (Kindle links will take a week or so).

Here are the first three.

“Broken Windchimes” is a short science fiction novel (a novella) that won the 2009 Asimov’s Reader’s Choice Award. If you missed it in Asimov’s, you can find it here. Just click on the links.

Kindle, Smashwords, Scribd.

“The Secret Lives of Cats,” a mystery story, won the Ellery Queen Readers’ Choice Award, and got nominated for the Anthony Award.

“The Poop Thief” is an urban fantasy story that deals with familiars, a store that sells familiars…and an unusual problem.

Kudos to you for republishing your backlist in ebook form. I’ve always felt that a wonderful and unique niche filled by the ebook market is in out of print short stories. When people say they’d rather hold a regular dead-tree book in their hands, I say “that’s great, but I can’t buy a 3K or 5K or 10K word short story in paperback from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.”

I’m a long time subscriber to several sf/fantasy mags, but I just go through those short stories so fast! It’s wonderful to find an author (and yes, you’re one of my favorites!) and be able to go to Amazon or Fictionwise and then download a whack of stories, published over the last 10, 20, 30 years, in big name or obscure journals, that are long since out of print.

So … looking forward to downloading what you’re putting into ebook form on my Kindle.
