Fiction River Funded!
What an exciting day. Today marked the end of the Fiction River Kickstarter project. We initially set a fundraising goal of $6,000. We figured we’d need that to pay for part of the first issue of Fiction River.
For those of you who don’t know what that is, Dean and I are starting an anthology series called Fiction River. Six issues will appear each year, with some special editions along the way. You can read more about that here.
We hit our $6,000 within a few days, and then stretched the goal to $12,000. If we hit that, we knew we could fund the first two issue and part of Fiction River Special #1, which is a large volume of original mystery stories that I will edit. We soared past the $12,000 this past weekend, and then today, with the help of so many of you, we ended up with more than $14,000 in funding.
I can’t tell you how much easier that will make the first few issues of the anthology series.
Thank you to everyone who contributed. You will be receiving letters and other notifications from us within a day or two, as we get everything finalized. Some of you will start receiving your rewards in September. Others will have to wait until April, when the first issue comes out.
We also would like to thank everyone who contributed in other ways. Many of you Tweeted about this project, and continued the interest. Others blogged about it or put it on their Facebook pages. Some contacted friends. Thank you so very much for getting the word out.
I know some of you are curious about submissions. We’re not open to any yet. There will be an announcement when one of the issues does open. Please wait until then.
We will have more updates as the Fall goes on. Some will be for supporters only, others will be for everyone. And keep your eye out for the Fiction River website, coming later in the year. It will have announcements as well as free fiction and other goodies.
Again, thank you all for the support. Dean and I are overwhelmed by your interest in the project, but even more we’re overwhelmed by your generosity. This is one of those projects we could not do alone. We appreciate everything. Thanks so much.
