Free Fiction Monday: The Destroyer
When a creature appears and offers the feral cat the Bargain—24 hours in another form—the cat forms a plan. He must use the Bargain to his advantage to save the life he knows. But the Bargain comes with hidden perils. And if his plan fails, many will pay the price. A cleverly crafted tale from the cat’s point of view, “The Destroyer” offers a unique perspective of the complex relationship between humans and felines.

This one disturbed me. Be it for good or bad it has been eating at me for a bit. I have a major weak spot for cats (I hate killing them in MMORPG’s) but this one… I’ve been extra nice to my cats for the last few days in guilt. They’ve gotten way more treats than they should have. I could not have written this one ever. Which makes it very good, if… uncomfortable.
I understand this isn’t a glowing “ooh, ooh more” but… I won’t forget it for a long while.
Thanks, Melisa. I wrote it because of a feral cat I couldn’t tame. He’s the main cat in the story–and it makes me sad too. Glad your kitties got extra loving because of it. I appreciate hearing.
Ooooo. I like this one extremely.
Thank you!
Cat stories, particularly well written ones, get me every time. Thanks for this one!
Thanks!
Wow! This is the way to write a cat story! I’ve read too many that just don’t convince me. Yours…I believed.
Thank you, J.M.!
I loved this story. You really get the cat’s perspective in such an authentic way. And what a satisfying ending. Thanks for writing it.
Thanks, Jill. 🙂
That was SUCH a good story!! I loved it.
Thanks!
Nice, Kris! Looking back over it again, I really like this story! The perspective was very interesting and believable.
Thank you! 🙂
