Writing, Mysteries, Bundles, and the Contracts Book!

9780544527188_p0_v2_s192x300I have lots of fun stuff to share. I hope you saw that the latest Diving novel is out (and the Recommended Reading List has returned). I also have a story in The Best American Mystery Stories 2016, edited by Elizabeth George. I love her work, so I’m particularly flattered that she chose a story of mine. If you haven’t read “Christmas Eve at the Exit,” now is the time. Pick up the volume. I can’t wait to read mine.

Closing The DealKevin J. Anderson curated another writing bundle for November–NaNoWriMo month. Really cool books in here, some of which I haven’t seen before. (So I’m ordering my copy.) It includes the contracts book I’ve worked on here, now called Closing The Deal…On Your Terms. (The ebook is available other places as well, but it’ll be a few weeks for the paper.) So, if you want the book at a discount, plus other books, this is the way to get it.

In the bundle, you’ll find great advice from James A. Owen, Dean Wesley Smith, Mike Resnick, M.L. Buchman, J. Daniel Sawyer, Bob Mayer, Jody Lynn Nye and Bill Fawcett, Pam McCutcheon and Michael Waite, Eric Maisel, Jude Wilhoff–and, for those of you following the discussion on last week’s blog post–a discount on Jutoh!

This bundle will last until December 22. So, you can get a copy for yourself, read it, and if you like it, order one for a holiday gift for a friend. Storybundle will work for you on that.

A portion of your payment goes to support two great charities: The Don Hodge Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Superstars Writing Seminar and actress Pat Tallman’s pet project Be A Santa, which benefits needy kids so they can have a real holiday.

And, speaking of bundles, you’ve got about a week to get the Political Thriller bundle. I’ve been thinking throughout this campaign that this election is going to be great fodder for alternate history and time travel writers for the next 100 years or so. If you want to see how writers have handled past eventful years, pick up this bundle. I dealt with 1964 in my book in the bundle, The Enemy Within. You’re hearing a lot about 1964 right now, even though the parallels aren’t quite the same.

Both bundles are on Storybundle.com. You can spend $5 and get five to six books (depending on the bundle) or you can spend $15 or more per bundle and all of them. As I said, Storybundle will help you give these books to a reader over the holidays, so you can get your shopping done early!

Oh, and if you missed the Fiction River Kickstarter, you can get Fiction River: Pulse Pounders in the Pulse Pounders thriller bundle, along with Dean’s nifty golf thriller ( that’s not an oxymoron) and nine other books. Also, on this one you can give money to The Challenger Center. The bundles that Kevin has curated have raised about $100,000 so far for The Challenger Learning Centers for Space Science Education. Let’s make it even more!

More news soon. This isn’t as busy a news cycle for me as September, but still busy! Enjoy.

I bought the political thriller bundle and have just finished The Enemy Within, which went straight to my all time favourites list. A fantastic book, and well worth buying the bundle just for that! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books now.
