Website News

The eagle-eyed among you noted that my website was down from Saturday through Monday night, which is the second time the site went down for a long period of time in the past month. The problem isn’t on my end. It’s the web hosting service.

So, this little wake-up call has made me decide to make some changes here at the website. You might not notice anything for the next month, or you might see some additional weirdness. Or the site might go down again (through no fault of my own).

Rest assured, all will be fixed by mid-August. And your favorite features—the recommended reading list, the free fiction, and the business blogs (all of them)—will remain.

Just wanted to give you all a heads-up as things change.

  1. Yes, I did notice on my Monday morning, and I thought… “Kris will flip.” I was so glad to see your site back on my Tuesday. I do check it every week. Love your posts.
Best of luck with fixing this! Changing hosts is no fun.

As someone whose domain went down again this year (no fault of my own – it was a yearly thing with my host) and then had to get all new domains when the webhost refused to unlock them and send transfer codes, I feel your pain. So not fun spending the first part of my year rebuilding and redirecting. I have learned my lesson well – my domains will remain in my control now. Patience will return my other domains to me — the jerk renewed my domains until 2019 after I refused to pay for them. Why do people have to be like that? I hope you have a much smoother transition.

    • Oh, Dawn, thank you for that. We’re looking at new providers now, and one of them does not provide domain service. A few folks are thinking that’s a disadvantage, but maybe not, given what you say. Good timing. (And I feel your pain too.)

    Good luck.

I’m beginning a major rebuilt of all my websites to move them to HTTPS. Dealing with SSL certificates has been … Interesting.

Hope the site stabilizes soon. You’ve created a wonderful resource.

I’m in the midst of what I call the Great Website Rebuild Which sometimes feels like I’m on a soot-spouting train with no end in sight and the treasure already stolen ? lol
