Writers…More Learning Ahead…

On Writing

Before the pandemic, we did an Anthology Workshop in person every year. The last one was in February of 2020. Yeah, you all know what that means.

We decided to return to the Anthology Workshop this year. They take a lot of work to set up and get underway. This year’s will happen in August, and it is…sadly…closed. The next one will be in two years, because the workshops are harder to organize in Las Vegas than they were on the Oregon Coast (we miss you, Kip!) and we want to make sure all of the anthologies are published before we do the next one. We have six anthologies this year, and they will all be part of the rebrand of Fiction River. (Yes, it’s coming back!)

This year, we added a feature called “Prepare Ahead,” which is for the writers who are attending. They get a workshop for free that explains the genre and has an interview with the editor or editors about what they want to see from the writers. (And what they don’t want to see.)

We decided to open the Prepare Ahead classes to anyone who wanted to take them (and maybe submit a story). Initially, we sold them as a bundle, but we only have two classes left. One of them starts tonight. (Yes, I’m late, as usual.) And it’s my second anthology, the Science Fiction Mystery anthology. I’m so excited about this. I love science fiction mystery. I can’t wait to read the stories. I suspect my excitement translated into my video…and will translate into the class.

Anyway, if you’re at all interested, here’s a link to the class. I think you’ll have a lot of fun with it!

But hurry! The class starts tonight!
