Or at least, some lawyers. As I write this on December 30, I see a full parking lot at the Regional Justice Center, as well as cars parked on the street. The various law offices scattered nearby have lights on until the wee hours. Everyone is trying to finish their work before year’s end.
That’s the inspiration for my award-winning short novel, Catherine The Great. Catherine, a high-powered attorney, gets contacted by her clients to handle the defense of a college athlete who did something very bad in Las Vegas after one of the bowl games. This piece was fun to write, and I guess it showed, because it won the Derringer Award last year.
