June was a weird month. As I blogged about earlier in the week, I got so sick I couldn’t read. When I came back to reading, I read a few novels that were good, but not compelling. Certainly not worth recommending. One I had been reading as I got sick and thought maybe the problem […]Continue Reading
I haven’t done an update on publications and deals in a while because I’ve been finishing all kinds of projects. I just handed in the Holiday Spectacular for 2020. Of course, I was late because of…you know…COVID-19 business related stuff. But I was lucky: I got to escape from all that real world stuff with […]Continue Reading
I told you in my last eclectic post about stuff I’m doing that I’ve had to schedule posts like this after my writing. Yes, Diving is still eating my brain. I’m fighting back with sticky notes and reminders on my writing computer calendar. Tonight’s reminder told me to do something hard. Which I’m punting, because […]Continue Reading
Because my life has been unbelievably hectic this past month or two, I wasn’t able to update you on my latest publications as I promised I would. I have had several—although not as many as I will have this fall. So in no particular order, let me share the recent publications. The latest Uncollected […]Continue Reading
If you’ve never tried the Diving series or if you haven’t yet sampled my Kristine Grayson Fates series or if you always wanted to try Fiction River, but never had time or if you like the stories you’ve read from the Uncollected Anthology and want to read more of them, then do I have a […]Continue Reading
I love writing for the Uncollected Anthology because it forces me to exercise my urban fantasy chops. I had let them atrophy over the years for a variety of reasons too complicated to go into right now. I promised myself that if I had a fantasy series that fit the theme of the Uncollected, I’d […]Continue Reading
A few months ago, one of my favorite people and one of my favorite editors, Denise Little, contacted me to let me know she’s editing a brand new romance magazine. She wondered if I, or more specifically, Kristine Grayson, could contribute a story. Now, sadly, Grayson’s stories require me to be in a goofy […]Continue Reading
Lots of Uncollected Anthology news. First, the latest edition of the Uncollected Anthology is out. Fabulous Familiars includes stories from Leah Cutter, Dayle A. Dermatis, Michele Lang, Rebecca Senese, me, and our guest author, Valerie Brook. Great writers here, with wonderful stories. My story, for those of you who didn’t see the earlier announcement, is […]Continue Reading
I generally post my recommended reading list a month or three after I’ve done the reading. Which means that all of the holiday stories that I read get recommended in January or February. In 2011, I decided to do a compilation of past holiday recommends so that you can get them for the appropriate season. (Please note: the stories might have shown up in other collections. I haven’t gone searching, but you might want to.)Continue Reading
I realized that all these great things had happened in my career, and some other great things had happened in my life at the very same time, and I hadn’t taken the time to appreciate them. Yes, other outside things brought me down emotionally. While those things (as well as those emotions) are valid, they shouldn’t stop me from living day to day.
I decided I needed an attitude adjustment.
So, I decided to look back at some of the good things in my writing career, in the writing business, and in the craft, as preparation for the day of feasting that I’ll be enjoying while those of you outside of the States will go through your usual Thursday routines.
In no particular order, here’s what comes to mind:Continue Reading
