Conundrums, Kickstarter, Bundles and an Anniversary

Here’s something fun. Deliberately fun. I wrote a novel in the deepest darkest time of 2020, the horrid winter where everything seemed bleak. I wanted to escape, so I wrote about old friends and good times at a 1990s-style sf convention…with some crime on the side. You see, my characters Spade and Paladin solve crimes at sf conventions. Until now, Spade and Paladin only appeared […]

Cosmic Visionaries…and Half-Off

I’m in a new Storybundle! It features all kinds of fun Space Opera. I just read Dean’s novella, which is exclusive, and it’s wonderful. You can also get my novella Maelstrom, which is in the Diving universe, as well as a completely fun anthology of 1970s-type sf (with an introduction by Barbara Bain of Space: 1999, which I used to watch religiously). Head over to […]

An Amazing Achievement

Our small publishing company pulled off the impossible so far in 2021. Through July, they have published 91 books. (With 50 or so scheduled for the second half of the year.) This is a wonderful achievement. All of the books are well designed and properly promoted. Allyson Longueira and her small team accomplished that on the one-day-at-a-time model. I’m so impressed with them. And that […]

Kickstarter Enters Its Final Hours

I just wanted to let you all know that the Kickstarter for the new Diving novel, The Chase, entered its hourly countdown on Kickstarter. That’s Kickstarter’s way of telling us all that time is running out. As I write this, there’s about 50 hours left. Everyone who backs at the $5 level and above will get the new book, as well as everything from the […]

Fun Stuff…With Deadlines

So much to tell you about that I won’t get to all of it. First, though, all of the Colliding Worlds books are out! Six science fiction collections, featuring 20 short stories in each book. Ten of the stories are from me and ten are by Dean. We had a blast putting these together. The books were the subject of a successful Kickstarter earlier this […]

Thieves Hits Print!

The Diving novel that fans have been waiting for—the next Boss novel—hits print today. This book takes place just after the events of The Runabout and at the same time as Searching For The Fleet. It also isn’t the last word in Diving, not by a long ways. I wrote a book that comes after Thieves. That book, called The Chase, is being reviewed right now […]

Thieves Preorder and Diving short story

Great news! I know many of you have been waiting for the next novel featuring Boss in the Diving series. Well, it’s finally…um…nearly here. The novel is called Thieves and it releases on February 12. But you can preorder your copy now in ebook, trade paper or hardcover format. It’ll take a while for audio. I’m negotiating with someone other than Audible for a variety […]

Squishy’s Teams arrives

I stealth published a novel this week. Squishy’s Teams is in my Diving Universe, but it’s not a novel about Boss. I wrote this in the middle of writing the big story arc that I’m finishing up this year. I wrote Squishy’s Teams to explain something to myself. (I do that a lot.) I needed to know what happened in the Empire when Squishy sent […]

Stories, More Diving, and a Half-Off Sale

I get busy, and I forget to update you folks, and then all of the news piles up into a big…news pile. (Okay, you know what I mean.) Let’s go by deadline. First, WMG Publishing is holding a half-off online workshops sale. We did this when COVID started to encourage people to stay in and learn. We hoped it would be a one-shot. It wasn’t. […]

Business Musings: Time and Licensing (Licensing/Contracts)

I’ve spent much of the past week on licensing for my Diving Universe. Some of this is because of the Kickstarter we’re running right now. Kickstarters can garner a lot of attention for a project, the kind of attention you can’t get anywhere else. (If you want to know more about that, and what else Kickstarters can do for your writing, then sign up for […]
