Recommended Reading List: October 2019

October went by very, very fast. I have no idea how that happened. One day, the month started, and the next, it ended. Part of that was because the Business Master Class was at the end, and required a lot of prep. Next October, we hold the final Business Master Class, and we’ll limit attendance, so if you’re interested, sign up sooner rather than later. […]

Recommended Reading List: December, 2014

Not quite as many books, articles, or stories to recommend from my December reading as I found in my November reading, but I read just as much. One of my favorite novelists disappointed me greatly with the ending of his latest novel. He badly telegraphed a “twist,” and it came—I’m not kidding—on the very last page of the novel. The end. The abrupt ending left […]

Recommended Reading List: June, 2014

Wow. It took me forever to finish this list. I made a bunch of notes throughout June, but I’m deep in the Retrieval Artist, plus life was kicking me in the butt, so I didn’t have time to write everything up the way I usually do. Recommended Reading List: September, 2013

I got an amazing amount of fantastic reading done in September—and I didn’t feel like I had read enough. Yet I look at this list, and realize I somehow squeezed a lot of reading in. Wow. Recommended Reading List: April 2012

I promised I would get the Recommended Reading List up by the 10th of every month, but some hacker conspired against me. Rather than clutter up everything the week that I came back, I left this one for the end of the month. Here’s the best stuff I read in April of 2012. Despite this being one of the weirder months of my life, I […]

Roger, At Sunset

I have a new short story out in the wonderfully eclectic literary magazine, Rosebud.  The story, “Roger, At Sunset,” was one of those amazing stories that arrived fully formed while I was researching something else. Wish that happened to me all the time. You can find Rosebud here. I’d also suggest reading editor Rod Clark’s marvelous Voice Over column every month.

September 2010 Recommended Reading List

September was as good a reading month as I had hoped it would be.  I read a number of wonderful things on my long flights and during my travels.  Much of what I read was on Kindle and on my iPhone.  I do have a rant below about format, simply because some major publishers don’t seem to care about format at all. Which is odd, […]
