Dean Wesley Smith and I just launched a brand new Kickstarter for our Detectives Collide project.
Several years ago, Kickstarter began a fun January promotion called “Make 100.” The idea was to put together 100 of something and create a Kickstarter for it. So, of course, Dean and I figured out ways to put together 100 pieces of fiction. We ended up starting a whole series of collections (collections of collections), which we have done for several years now.
This year’s is a lot of fun. We’re doing Detectives Collide. Detectives, in all genres, and in all kinds of different settings. Our titles for the books are:
Procedurals
Historicals
Private Detectives
Contemporary
Non-Traditional
We set this up by these categories to avoid genre headings. I could fill an entire volume with science fiction detectives, but I’m not sure Dean could. Although he could fill a volume with fantasy detectives quite easily. By separating them out, we’ve made the volumes a lot more fun and interesting.
What will you get in the books? 100 stories, fifty by Dean and fifty by me. You’ll also get whatever stretch goal we hit with even more stories. And there are a lot of other rewards. Workshops for writers. Books for readers. Many great and fun things.
