The last week of the Seavy County Kickstarter began today. For the past seven days, we’ve focused on the overall things you could get from stories to novels to workshops. The stories and novels are all set in Seavy County, an imaginary part of the Oregon Coast where strange things occur.
As I compiled this, I realized that I am the only one who really knows Seavy County. It encompasses every genre from dark fantasy to science fiction to crime to romance, with a bit of literary mixed in.
Since the Kickstarter is for all of the Seavy County tales, I figured I’d familiarize you with them over the next several days.
We’ll start with the three novels that everyone will get with this Kickstarter. In the 1990s, Façade was one of the first books published in a brand-new horror book line here in the U.S. That line wasn’t really horror so much as dark fantasy. This book is closer to horror than anything else in this Kickstarter.
One note about the Kickstarter: If we hit all of our stretch goals, you will get stories of all the different genres. The three novels in the banner are fantasy, but the bonus novel (if we hit 125 backers) is a dark romance. The collections feature several genres, including sf and crime. To sample the crime fiction, check out this week’s Free Fiction Monday story, “Heroics.”
Here’s the blurb for Façade:
Thomas’s estranged daughter Heather died on the Oregon Coast. Thomas returns there, not to solve his daughter’s murder, but to see if he can live with himself and his past. Only someone leaves mysterious notes and birds die on his porch. Something strange lurks in the shadows. When more people die, Thomas realizes he alone can solve the crisis, if he only dares…
“…an exceptionally effective casebook of abnormal psychology…Rich and revelatory. The ending is perfect.” —Locus
You can get your copy along with two other books and so much more on the Seavy County Kickstarter.
