I’m behind, as you all know, because I’ve been taking care of Dean and our businesses after his crash & burn. For those of you who missed what’s happening, here’s the information.
We’ve had some announcements for things we had planned before Dean’s accident. The first is that we opened another specialty store. I love this one. It’s for the Holiday Spectacular and all things holiday. WMG has quite a few holiday things, including a lot of fiction, so take a look. Right now, we’re having a grand opening sale to celebrate and everything in the store is on sale…including online writing workshops. Again, here’s the link.
Speaking of workshops, people have asked for years for us to bring back the in-person Anthology Workshop. I honestly didn’t think we could do it, because the costs of running a workshop in Las Vegas are prohibitive.
But never underestimate the determination of Allyson Longueira and Dean. They wanted to do the workshop and they’ve been working hard with Resorts World to make it happen. We have to hold the workshop in July to keep the rates low, but we can do it…provided everyone who comes gets their room at Resorts World. It took a lot of negotiation, but we managed.
So…here’s the official announcement. The Anthology Workshop will be held in July of 2024. The week is to be determined, because we can’t finish the contracting until February (Resorts World policy). But I can say that the workshop will not be held over the fourth of July.
We only have 40 slots available and they are first come first serve. Dean announced it last week on his blog, and we’re already half full. I figured I’d better announce quickly, or you all wouldn’t even get a chance at this.
Here’s the sales copy:
Back by Popular Demand! The WMG Anthology Workshop!
The annual WMG Anthology Workshop had long been a must-attend event for writers. But it was one of the many casualties of the pandemic. Now, after years of requests to bring it back, WMG has found a way!
So, in July 2024, the WMG Anthology Workshop will return to Las Vegas—now at Resorts World! Write and submit stories to four professional editors for consideration at 6 cents/word and see them live edit the anthologies! There is no other workshop like this out there, which is why WMG worked so hard to bring it back!
For contracting reasons, we can’t finalize the exact week until February, but the workshop will NOT be held over the 4th of July holiday.
The workshop will last four days, beginning early on Monday and ending at noon on Thursday. There will also be a hospitality room for evening gatherings from Sunday to Wednesday.
Writers will write and submit their stories during late April and May.
For logistical reasons, workshop attendance will be capped at 40 people. The fee for the class is $900. Due to the high demand, you must be fully paid to hold your spot. (Workshop fees are fully refundable up to two months ahead. After that, they are transferrable.)
Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind workshop! Reserve your spot today by emailing Dean. (Address is on the flyer.)
