A Short Term Goal

As some of you know, we’re running a subscription drive Kickstarter for Pulphouse magazine. We’ve got all kinds of rewards, starting at $25 for a six-issue subscription. In fact, the six-issue subscription comes with every reward. As I mentioned in some of my posts, we also have merchandise in the Kickstarter. The merch is priced low, but has the six-issue sub added in, so you’ll […]

Business Musings: One Thing. Maybe One And A Half. (Niche Marketing Part 5)

To get a free audio version of this post, click here. This little niche marketing series continues, and what we need are examples. Fortunately, I have them. Note: if you’re new to this series, please go back and start with the first post. In the second part of this series, I listed the various books I have published and which are currently still on the […]

Fun, Fun, Fun, A Little Advice, and More Fun

I’m going to start with the thing that’s not as much fun as everything else. That’d be the little bit of advice. I have a new book out, which is called How Writers Fail: Analysis and Solutions. The topic is dark, but the book is uplifting, especially if you have some of the issues I’m dealing with here. If you know or if you are […]

Business Musings: A Few Benefits of Niche Marketing (Niche Marketing Part 3)

For an audio version of this blog, click here. I dithered a lot before starting this post. I wanted to show you how to pare that long list of mine that I featured in the previous blog down into something manageable, to show how niche marketing is done in an effective manner. But I couldn’t get myself started. Granted, I had a very sick cat […]

An Amazing Achievement

Our small publishing company pulled off the impossible so far in 2021. Through July, they have published 91 books. (With 50 or so scheduled for the second half of the year.) This is a wonderful achievement. All of the books are well designed and properly promoted. Allyson Longueira and her small team accomplished that on the one-day-at-a-time model. I’m so impressed with them. And that […]

Three New Anthologies And One Magazine

Three of my stories appeared in reprint anthologies this summer. You can find “Embedded” in Fiction River Presents: Space Travelers, “Sole Survivor” in Fiction River Presents: Among The Stars, and “Hand Fast” in No Way: Totally Twisted Tales. “Embedded” is military sf, “Sole Survivor” is a standalone part of the Retrieval Artist series, and “Hand Fast” is dark romantic (?) fantasy. I edited the two […]

Thank You!

Those of you who’ve been coming to the website regularly have seen the Pulphouse Kickstarter countdown on the side of the page. That countdown is gone now, because the Kickstarter is over. We made our goal. Oh, that’s such a silly way to put it. We crushed our goal. Thanks to your support, we made seven times what we asked for. Supporters not only get […]

Writers And Snot-Nosed Aliens, Among Other Things

I mentioned a few posts back that I would have a lot of news this fall. And I do. It stuns me. First, let me thank all the people who have supported the Pulphouse Kickstarter so far. As I write this, we’ve hit two of our stretch goals and are halfway to the third. The first stretch goal guaranteed an extra electronic issue of the […]

Business Musings: Pulphouse, Alternate History, & the Modern Era

When you come to my website right now, it’s rather hard to ignore the fact that we’re running a Kickstarter. I have a Kickstarter widget tracking our progress in real time, and I blogged about the Kickstarter on Friday. The Kickstarter will help us revive Pulphouse Fiction Magazine, which we stopped publishing 21 years ago, when we shut down Pulphouse Publishing. Dean has talked […]
