Thieves Hits Print!

The Diving novel that fans have been waiting for—the next Boss novel—hits print today. This book takes place just after the events of The Runabout and at the same time as Searching For The Fleet. It also isn’t the last word in Diving, not by a long ways. I wrote a book that comes after Thieves. That book, called The Chase, is being reviewed right now […]

Another Piece of Searching For The Fleet Appears!

Bit by bit, pieces of Searching For The Fleet are leaking out. Those of you who read “Dix” in Asimovs a few months back saw part of Searching For The Fleet. Here’s another piece. It’s a story about Coop from the days before he became captain of the Ivoire. The reactions to this story are pretty strong, which pleases me. I hope it brings some […]

Free Fiction Monday: Becalmed, Part One

Mae, chief linguist on the Ivoire, heads a diplomatic mission to Ukhanda. Her handling of relations with the Quurzod lead to a battle that causes the Ivoire’s anacapa drive to malfunction, stranding the ship in foldspace. Mae can’t remember what she did wrong on the mission: all she knows is that she’s one of the few survivors. If she doesn’t recall it, she won’t be able to prevent another disaster when the Ivoire escapes foldspace. If the Ivoire escapes foldspace. Because what no one talks about—and everyone fears—is that the Ivoire is becalmed…forever.

“Becalmed,” by Hugo Award-winning author Kristine Kathryn Rusch is free on this website for one week only.

Diving News! News for Writers! News For Short Story Lovers!

Yes! News! (And more exclamation points than I probably needed, but still.) For some reason, all of my deadlines piled up in 2017. I spent the first four months in a weird, but efficient frenzy. The only thing that went by the wayside was keeping you all informed of new publications. This, of course, means that the news has piled up as well, and I’m […]

I started writing The Falls to explain sector bases to myself. I figured I had a novella at best, but the story got longer and longer and longer. More characters showed up, and it wasn’t until I was nearly done that I realized why I had to tell this story in this way. Diving fans, you need to read The Falls before you read The […]

A New Diving Universe Novel

The new Diving project turned into a novel. It surprised me, because the novel does not feature Boss. The book takes place at a sector base. I started the entire book as a novella, which I do very often to explain something to myself. But the novella kept going and going and going, and now I have a surprise novel. The Falls will appear in […]

I know my overseas fans have felt frustrated that they were unable to buy the first three novels, so let me begin with that news. You can buy the first three novels worldwide now. I can’t link to them, since I’m in the States, but I can […]
